Tally Solutions launches VAT compliant software
Chennai: Leading software company Tally Solutions Pvt. Ltd. has released Tally 9 Accounting and Inventory software, which is VAT compliant, for Tamil Nadu.
The new software, besides incorporating statutory features was now offering enhanced performance with add-ons such as payroll and sales invoices, a release said here today.
Tally 9 simplified every aspect of VAT, from recording transactions with Tamil Nadu specific VAT classifications to compute reports and make periodic VAT/composite returns and annexures.
Besides, Tally had a dedicated cell that monitored changes in VAT and other statutes, which provided prompt updates of rule changes.
Explaining the Tally initative, Vice-President Tally Solutions Shoaib Ahmed said ‘in addition to the wide network of support centres, a VAT helpdesk has been set up to support customers implementing VAT for the first time’.
Tally 9 also met VAT requirements in the UK and many south Asian countires such as Singapore, Indonesia and Phillipines, he said, adding, backed by a statewide network of sales and service units, Tally had geared up to enable the business community in Tamil Nadu to make a smooth transition from the sales tax regime to VAT.
He also mentioned that the objective of VAT was to simplify tax structure and create a uniform common market within the country, which would bring down prices and enable Indian manufacturers to reduce costs.

Tally unveils new VAT tool
Chennai : Accounting and inventory software provider Tally Solutions has released a new Value Added Tax (VAT) compliant software for the Tamil Nadu market.
Called `Tally 9’, the new software encompasses modules on point of sale accounting, pay roll and job processing, fringe benefit tax and helps generate VAT-related reports.
Tally 9 is also concurrently multilingual, which means users can switch between English and other Indian languages while processing a transaction. For instance, one may have recorded a transaction in English but can choose to process it, modify it or take print outs of it in Tamil. This is different from a regular multilingual feature where one cannot switch between languages for the same business transaction.
To incorporate this concurrent multilingual capability, Tally 9 has been designed with a different software architecture compared to its previous versions such as Tally 6.3 and Tally 7.2, said Mr Shoaib Ahmed, Vice-President (South Asia - Sales), Tally (India) Private Ltd. However, users of previous Tally versions can upgrade themselves to Tally 9 for about Rs 3,500 (for those upgrading from Tally 7.2), he said.
Tally 9 comes in two versions — silver (single user capability) and gold (multi user capability) — and is priced at Rs 9,900 and Rs 24,000 respectively.
Mr Ahmed said demand for the gold version would go up this year, as small businesses are growing in size and increasingly becoming multi-user.
Tally Solutions has about 20-lakh registered users in 90 countries.
