Tamil Nadu Open University and Tally India Pvt. Ltd. form education alliance
Aiming to teach vocational skills for immediate employment
Chennai: Tally ( India) Pvt. Ltd. today announced a formal tie-up with Tamilnadu Open University (TNOU) to give a boost to employment opportunities in Tamilnadu. As an outcome of this MoU, Tally will be the knowledge provider for TNOU’s latest offering - Certificate Programme in Accounting Software (CPAS). This is a path breaking private – public partnership and a first for TNOU in the field of Accounts and Finance.
This initiative will benefit all those who want a career in accounting. The key driver for this alliance is the industry requirement for a ‘trained’ candidate. Therefore, for Tally and TNOU the task at hand lies in imparting job ready skills in an easy to learn methodology.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. M.G.Gopi, General Manager & Sales head for South Asia – Education and Training Business, Tally ( India) Pvt. Ltd. said, “For this tie-up we have designed a curriculum for students to acquire Tally skills. The huge demand for Tally professionals, from businesses of all sizes, stems from the fact that currently there are over 18 lakh Tally users. Tally has a monopoly in the 10 million (one crore) Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector which provides employment to over 27 million (270 lakhs) persons.”
“Today, in the school leaving segment in India, only 3 % in the rural and 6 % in the urban areas receive vocational training. The demand for trained manpower & the dearth of vocational courses has led to a gap in the market. Tally has thus started partnering with academia across the country to meet this requirement and the MoU with TNOU is another major step in this direction. Initiatives like these will ensure that formal education is supplemented by industry required vocational skills,” added Mr. M.G.Gopi.
According to Professor M.S. Palanichamy, Vice-Chancellor - Tamil Nadu Open University, “we are proud to announce our collaboration with Tally to introduce training on the most popular accounting software in the country. In the present scenario where the employment opportunities are limited, our students will actually benefit from vocational programs like the Certified Program in Accounting Software (CPAS)
The three-month certificate program on Tally Software is being offered at selected centers of the TallyAcademy network, the authorized partners of Tally (India) Pvt. Ltd. Students who possess the prescribed qualification (i.e.+2) can undergo the hands on training. Over and above this, anybody who has completed 18 years of age may simultaneously pursue the Bachelor Preparatory Program of TNOU.”
