Delhi University and Tally form education alliance

Aim to teach vocational skills for immediate employment

New Delhi: Tally (India) Pvt. Ltd. today announced a formal tie-up with Delhi University to give a boost to employment opportunities for the Delhi University students. This MoU is a significant step towards integrating vocational training with mainstream education. This is a path breaking private-public partnership and a first for Delhi University in the field of accounts and finance.

This initiative has been taken jointly by Tally and Delhi University to create an environment for vocational training in financial & accounting domain and benefit all those who want a career in accounting. The key driver for this alliance is the increasing requirement for a ‘trained’ candidate and to cater to the challenges of the industry in today’s market scenario.

On this occasion, Gopi. M.G., GM - Sales, Education and Training Business, Tally (India) Pvt. Ltd., said, “Today, in the school leaving segment in India, only 3 % in the rural and 6 % in the urban areas receive vocational training. The demand for trained manpower & the dearth of vocational courses especially in the arts and commerce domain has led to a gap in the market. Tally has thus started partnering with academia across the country to meet this requirement and the partnership with Delhi University is a major initiative in this direction. Initiatives like these will ensure that formal education is supplemented by industry required vocational skills,”

Prof. Shirin Rathore, Dean of Colleges, University of Delhi, said, “the task at hand lies in imparting job ready skills in an easy to learn methodology. We are proud to announce our collaboration with Tally to introduce training on the most popular accounting software for our undergraduate students across 57 colleges. In the present scenario where the employment opportunities are limited, our students will actually benefit from vocational programs like these that enhance their skill-set and empower them for a better tomorrow”.

“For this tie-up we have designed a curriculum for students to acquire Tally skills and we are investing close to Rs. 5 million in this initiative. Tally will be offering this course to the students at a subsidized fee and the financial accounting software will be offered to the colleges free of cost”, added Mr. M.G.Gopi.

Since vocational courses in our country are still to get some foothold, this initiative taken by Delhi University and Dean will help popularize the concept and create a favourable platform.

These courses will be conducted after or before the regular classes without disturbing their formal education.
