How to change current period in Gateway of Tally
The Current Financial Year is 1-4-2010 to 31-03-2011, and in the Gateway of Tally it displays the Current Period as shown:
Now if you want to create a voucher on 1-4-2011, the error message Date above current period (31-Mar-11) is displayed.
Now if you want to create a voucher on 1-4-2011, the error message Date above current period (31- Mar-11) is displayed.
Change the Current Period in the Gateway of Tally by pressing Alt + F2 Change Period 01-04-2011 to31-03-2012, and then record the vouchers for the new financial year.
It will change the Current Period information and you will be able to save vouchers for the financial year
2011-12.
Balances of the previous financial period will be carried forward without passing any closing transactions.

Enable “Use Advance Configuration” to “Yes”
In Prefix Details (type) : VM/
In suffix Details (type) : /12-13
and save by pressing enter

May be your Tally 9 is working in educational mode, you dont have license copy or pirated copy. In educational mode Tally accept 1, 2 and 30 or 31 day.

I have changed the accounting period of my company from (1-9-2011 / 31-8-2012) to (1-9-2011 / 31-12-2012).
My sales voucher has been set for automatic numbering. All vouchers entered from 1-9-2011 to 31-8-2012 are correctly auto-numbered. However, voucher entered after 31-8-2012 are starting to be numbered again from 1.
Please assist on how I can fix this.

when i face this problem in tally, then i worked for hours in Tally without quitting tally software, but no result was found. then i suddenly close the tally software from GOT, then again started Tally, and i got the solution that the above mentioned problem was solved automatically.

In configuration Make “Load company on start” to “No”
Open your Tally do the settings how you want.
Dont close Tally, from your desktop tally icon right click on your tally icon > properties >
Copy the text which in “Start in” tab (eg. D:\Tally.ERP9)
Open your tally.ini (configuration file, which you will get where you install tally e.g D:\Tally.ERP9)
in Config=d:\Tally.ERP9 (which is their by defalu)
paste after “=” what we copied on d:\Tally.ERP9
so it will be
in Config=D:\Tally.ERP9
Save the file
come out from both tally and ini file
restart your machine and check the same

and save it.
Come to gate way of Tally change period (Alt + F2)
01.04.2012 to 31.03.2014
If it is asking for rewrite, Press Ctrl + Alt + R to rewrite the company

If you are working in same company in Tally by default Tally carries last year balance as opening balance.
You have to only change your current period in Gate way of Tally Screen by pressing Alt + F2.
If you want to give opening balance by your own then create a new company in Tally and give the opening balance

I have entered financial year in ABC ltd as 1-4-2011 to 31-3-2012, now my question is i want to make entry of year 2010 now can i make entry in this same company without creating new company with financial year as 1-4-2010 to 31-3-2011.
I tried to change date by going in company info and try to enter year as 1-4-2010 to 31-3-2012
but i was not able to make any entry of year 2010 although i change the date as above.

Books beginning from and financial year from : this date should be 01/04/2010
If this date are correct then come to gateway of Tally > Press Alt + F2 > Change your period from 01/04/2010 to 31/03/2012
Now you can pass the entries in between 01/04/2010 to 31/03/2012.

hello,
i want to change current period and i can change it from alt f2. but after i made entries in period 1-4-2013 to 31-3-2014.
after my work done. i close tally 9. but when next time i again open tally9. it shows old period. i.e. 1-4-2012 to 31-3-2013.
i mean every time i open tally. it shows old period and if i try to enter something it shows the error “DATE ABOVE CURRENT PERIOD 31-3-2013″
If i correct it manually it helps. but in that case every time i open tally i have to do it manually??
whats the matter?? could u guys plz help me out.???

Dear Umesh
Open your Tally do the changes in company, do not close your Tally Company,
Go to your desktop right click on your Tally9 icon > Properties > Copy the text which in Start in eg. C:\Tally.
Go to Tally install folder means where you install Tally 9 (e.g C:\Tally).
Open Tally.ini file
paste the text after “Config=”
Config=C:\Tally
Save and close the file and Tally Also.
Now reopen your Tally and try it

You are using educational version of Tally, in that it will accept only date 1, 2 and 30 or 31 of that month.

dear sir,
The current period displayed in my file is 01/04/2013 to 31/03/2014. and financial year from 1-4-2012.I need to enter a voucher in 10-4-2012, but still i am receiving the error “date above current period”. What could possibly cause such error. Kindly help….

i’ve started entering voucher in the financial year 13-14, but when start in a voucher in the previous year (ie; 12-13) i get an error “date below starting of books 1 apr 2013″. i’ve corrected the the date in gateway of tally to 12-13.

Currently am using tally version 9 , am using from last 2 years like Alwan Painting Works LLc 2011 – 12 (10001) , Alwan Painting Works LLC 2012-13 (10002) And Current Year I have to Create Like Alwan Painting Works LLC 2013-14 (10003).
Can you help us for the current period, how to create ?

You are using Tally Educational Version, in educational version it will accept date only 1,2 and 30 or 31 of that month

i want to know that when i edit something inthe configuration it changes that time , but after closing tally and again starting the tally the chages i made were vanish and the tally is as it is previously. such as if i edit something in sales invoice configuration, that is height , width, page no. that time it changes but on the next day i have to make the changes again . please help me

Loan Companies on Startup : Make it No
and save the canges.
Now try by opening new Tally window

Financial year will not affect your data.
if you want to change your financial year you have to come to Gate way of Tally > Press F2 >
Change your period
Check you company data folder size
